iOS 16.1 Beta 1 is the latest software update for iPhones. In fact, Apple has made it available for testing, and we can find some changes in it. In addition, it adds a number of new features. What exactly will we find in the iOS update? Let’s take a look.

iOS 16.1 Beta 1 Update

iOS 16.1 includes a new feature called Clean Energy Charging, which Apple announced not so long ago. According to the company, this feature seeks to reduce the carbon footprint by selectively charging when lower carbon electricity is available. At first, the option will be exclusive to the United States.

Another addition is the option to enable the battery indicator on the status bar. From now on, we can know exactly how much battery percentage we have left in the iPhone. Users of the iPhone Xr, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 mini, and iPhone 13 mini will also have access to this information.

The update also restores the Live Activities API. Now, developers can create live activities in their apps. This will help track app content with real-time updates. This option will be compatible with the lock screen and dynamic island available on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

After updating iOS to version 16.1, you will gain early access to Matter accessories. These tools are expected to provide better capabilities with the smart home device compatibility.

If you’ve wanted to completely remove the Wallet app from your iPhone at some point, the iOS 16.1 update finally allows you to do so. Until now, it was only possible to remove this app from the home screen. Now, we can also remove from the App Library.

We will also get a minor screenshot UI update. In the upper right corner, we will find several options related to the screenshot taken. In these options we can save, copy and delete, and just delete the screenshot. This change will be more subtle, as we won’t have the bottom part of the screen covered.
